The Second Bank of Lucre
From Monkey Island wiki
The Second Bank of Lucre, also known as the Lucre Island™ Municipal Bank, is a banking establishment in Lucre Town, run by Mr. Quidworth. It has a secure vault containing Horatio Torquemeda Marley's safe-deposit box, in which he has secured the deed to the Marley mansion on Mêlée Island, along with the keys to the Ultimate Insult. Guybrush gains access to the bank vault with a letter from Elaine's lawyers, but while he is inside the bank is robbed by Pegnose Pete. While the crime is being investigated the bank is shut down, which puts Brittany the bank teller out of a job. Guybrush must break into the bank to uncover evidence of Pegnose Pete's involvement in the robbery (his prosthetic nose) and clear his own name.
In addition to safety deposit boxes, the Second Bank of Lucre offers savings accounts and personal loans, although they do not extend credit to pirates. They do not recognise Australian currency (the bills and the animals depicted on them don't look real to natives of the Caribbean), much to the frustration of Ozzie Mandrill. The bank's name was the idea of the publicity department, who felt that being called the 'First' bank didn't project an image of expertise. The actual building is two stories high, although the interior has no proper second story, just a high ledge running around two of the walls. It also uses new electric lights, activated by the simple pull of a chain. The day of Guybrush's visit the bank had been offering a promotion in conjunction with Scupperware.
