Talk:Tales of Monkey Island
From Monkey Island wiki
What else can be added to the page?
- There's not too much to add at the moment. Any screenshots maybe? What we probably need most is an article on Dave Grossman. Ryback 19:45, 2 June 2009 (EDT)
I agree on the Grossman page. Every voice actor has a page and yet this guy doesn't. Also an article on Telltale Games though I ran into minor problems on that (which i have posted in the Community Portal). There are quite a few screenshots on the Telltale site, and a link to the trailer would be nice, though where would they fit? Threepy
- I think screenshots+trailer would fit after the 'Development' part of the article. - Dalixam
@FFM-Was the edit really needed? It didn't say ToMI was Monkey Island 5, just the fifth in the series, which is true. Also, the imaginary MI5 is mentioned later on. I won't edit it back though, will wait for reply. threepy 09:55, 4 June 2009 (EDT)
@Dalixam, how yould the screenshots be linked though? Should they be on the actual page, or just linked to? Not really sure which fits the format of the MIWiki best. threepy 09:55, 4 June 2009 (EDT)
- I think they should be on the actual page, much nicer to look at than a bunch of links :) Like this: http://www.wowwiki.com/Wrath_of_the_Lich_King#Screenshots The trailer might need to be a link, I'm not sure we can embed YouTube videos --Dalixam 18:32, 4 June 2009 (EDT)
Okay, I'll give it a go and see if I can get some thumbnailed screenshots. threepy 19:35, 4 June 2009 (EDT)
Done it now, the screenshots are from Telltales site. No copyright issues right? threepy

- It's all promotional material so I doubt it. Be useful to check Telltale's policy on fair use though. --Ryback 21:10, 4 June 2009 (EDT)
It would all depend on whether these images are in the public domain, which I'm clueless about. threepy 21:14, 4 June 2009 (EDT)
- It won't be public domain. (I don't think any of the screenshots on the wiki are). But a fair use rationale can be given for their use, such as the fact that they're being used as promotional material, they are of lower resolution and quality than the actual ingame graphics, that they're not likely to cause Telltale any financial harm from being on this website, and so on. --Ryback 21:29, 4 June 2009 (EDT)
@Kristof2 for if you're readinthis I'm just posting to say I deleted your comment about Bill Tiller because his blog post was really a bit of satire. It wasn't true. For a start the Monkey Island revival has been 9 months in the making, and Ghost Pirates of Vooju Island was not announced that long ago. threepy 15:43, 10 June 2009 (EDT)
Spoilers
Just something to consider. The first episode comes out in four days time and the wiki will probably be updated quickly with character details, plot summary, islands, puzzles etc. Do we want to have some kind of policy regarding spoilers? Maybe a warning at the head of the page, eg "THIS ARTICLE CONTAINS SPOILERS" might be appropriate during the period the episodes are being released. Thoughts? --Ryback 18:28, 2 July 2009 (EDT)
@Ryback- No, people have enough common sense not to check Monkey Island wiki for info on Tales Of Monkey Island. Its a good idea however for people who might be tempted to check the site for spoilers.--User:MonkeyIslandFreak08
Well, I broke the dam and added a plot summary. *hides* I tried to avoid too many spoilers, but get a picture of the game about the who-and-what.--User:Spiffy
Screenshots
Is this section broken for anyone else, or is it just me? I know 4 screenshots per row will save a little space, but for peopel with small PC screens it breaks the page a little. :-)threepy 08:12, 13 July 2009 (EDT)
Trivia
Under 'Trivia' is says 'This is the only game in the series, to date, where Monkey Island is not visited.' That's not correct, in MI2 Monkey Island isn't visited either. Shouldn't this be deleted or am I missing something? --Dalixam 11:13, 19 March 2010 (EDT)
