From Monkey Island wiki
In recent video games, additional challenges outside of the main quest are called achievements. When the Special Editions of The Secret of Monkey Island and Monkey Island 2: LeChuck's Revenge, as well as Tales of Monkey Island, were released for the PlayStation Network in 2010, some sidequests were included in an achievement tracking system called trophies (introduced to the PlayStation 3 in system software update 2.40 in July 2008).
The four different types of trophies are bronze, silver, gold and platinum, awarded to players for making specific accomplishments or reaching certain milestones in games. In the Monkey Island series, there are bronze, sliver and gold trophies awarded based on the difficulty of the accomplishment with each trophy contributing to a 'level' system linked to a player's PlayStation Network profile; gold trophies contribute more experience level advancement than silver, and silver contribute more experience than bronze. Trophies are displayed on a player's PlayStation Network profile screen, which also shows their level.
