Inspector Canard

Inspector Canard is the law officer who arrests Guybrush Threepwood after he is framed for bank robbery by Pegnose Pete. Though adamant himself on capturing Pegnose for other crimes, he doesn't believe Guybrush's insistence on being innocent and places him under house arrest. He secures the Voodoo Anklet of extreme discomfort around his ankle preventing him from leaving Lucre Island. He also arrests Otis for picking private flowers and keeps him in jail for a while.
In order to be set free Guybrush has to prove Pegnose was in the bank and that he committed the crime. Guybrush is able to capture Pegnose by using te thief's extreme fear of ducks to his advantage. After Guybrush provides Pegnose's prosthetic nose (found at the scene of the crime) and the screw used to hold it in place (at Pegnose's Booty Showcase, where he also recovers the stolen loot), Canard is convinced to release Guybrush. Unfortunately Pegnose escapes soon after.

- Canard is French for 'duck'—and Pegnose Pete has an extreme phobia of ducks.
