The Eye of the Monkey is the name of a jewel that's set in a stone monkey idol on Monkey Island. It plays an important part in the Monkey Island movie, where it essentially serves as a MacGuffin. LeChuck needs it for his evil plans, so he resorts to stealing it. It can supposedly be used in a mysterious voodoo ritual to bring back all the dead pirates that ever lived. When LeChuck loses the jewel due to Murray's stupidity, he has Guybrush help him reclaim it. He succeeds in doing so, but eventually the stone is returned to its rightful place, making everything right again for the monkeys of Monkey Island. Why the jewel is so important to the monkeys is unknown, but they're willing to defend it vociferously.[1]
